The diverse exchanges, interactions and deliberations in the COPASAH Global Symposium 2019 on Citizenship, Governance and Accountability in Health led to the practitioners, researchers and other delegates voice out the values, frameworks, challenges towards drafting a global social accountability charter and call for action, demanding health and health care as a fundamental human right. The cahrter and call to action included the citizenship right of demanding accountability from various stakeholders in order to strengthen citizenshipThe Charter was discussed in regional assemblies as well as in the practitioner assembly, and then the revised draft was circulated for comments and inputs. The Charter and the Call to Action was presented to the public via a webinar on the December 12, 2019 that coincided with International Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day.

On the ‘International UHC Day’ to reiterate the promise of health for all, COPASAH shared a broad vision with the Charter and Call to Action of How Citizenship, Governance and Accountability processes can contribute towards better health and the well-being of all, including marginalised and deprived communities. The webinar witnessed participation from different regions of Africa, UK, Central Europe, South Asia including practitioners, academicians and researchers. The facilitators Aminu Magashi Garba ( COPASAH Co-convener; AHBN, Nigeria) and Ravi Ram(PHM -East & Southern Africa) presented the points from the COPASAH charter as well as the Call to Action respectively and how it envisages, approaching different stakeholders premising upon health for all with a citizen-centric focus. The facilitators also invited suggestions to take the charter further collectively. The participants welcomed the Charter and proposed different initiatives of taking the charter and call to action further. Proposals were made by participants to write blogs/briefs about the charter as well to take it further in different global conferences, meets and with policy makers and Parliamentarians. There were suggestions in the Dialogue also for observing International Social Accountability Day.
