REGIONAL ASSEMBLY
The Practitioner Assembly was a plenary session that was envisaged to discuss and deliberate upon the Social Accountability Charter and then give the call to action. The social accountability charter was already disseminated to the delegates in the last two days and it was also discussed in the regional assemblies.
Abhay Shukla was the moderator of the Practitioner Assembly and he started the session by presenting the framework of the Accountability Charter. Further he called for inputs from the delegates over the weekend which could be sent to be added to the charter. HE also invited he practitioners and the delegates to express interest in any one of the thematic areas and be associated with the activities of the theme in the coming days.
He invited Ravi Ram to present the framework of the charter. Ravi presented the core beliefs, the major concerns and went on to present the charter with the major highlights. He also presented the call of action and the next steps. The charter is broad based he said and the two core beliefs that guide the charter, are the fundamental essence of human rights as guiding principles and how do we operationalise those through accountability, transparency, inclusion, participation and democracy. He further went to explain the twelve major commitment that the charter is trying to address, he went to explain that there is room to expand, and the feedback regarding that will be incorporated.
After the presentation of the Charter, Aminu Magashi Garba presented the call for action, and he invited the participants to commit to the call to action. It is a overarching call that he said aims to build solidarity and promoting transparency, inclusion and participation of all. Further this is also an effort to promote leadership of women and marginalised community in demanding social accountability.
This was followed by brief presentation from each theme on the deliberations from the three days. After which the regional groups of practitioners met and discussed the charter and how they would take it forward in their own regions while keeping the synergies of COAPSAH alive.
